Public relations firm Weber Shandwick has appointed an Asia Pacific head of sustainability for the first time.
Joining the firm as executive vice president, social impact and sustainability is Marianne Lamonin, who takes on the role after two years of running her own executive leadership coaching firm, Kairos Perspectives.
Lamonin’s brief is to build the firm’s sustainability and environmental, social and governance (ESG) consulting capabilities in the region.
Weber Shandwick’s clients have included German biopharmaceutical firm Merck, Korean conglomerate Hanwha Group, and Malaysian transport firm Prasarana.
The firm’s sustainability-related campaigns include a pop-up supermarket which listed the ‘price’ of every item as a carbon dioxide equivalent, for Swedish food brand Felix.
Lamonin will report to Vanessa Ho Nikolovski, Weber Shandwick’s chief client and growth officer, Asia Pacific. The agency’s global sustainability practice is led by Paul Massey, who is based in the United States.
She brings 15 years of sustainability experience to the role, working with the likes of World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), French energy firm EDF, and

Weber Shandwick’s appointment comes the week after rival PR firm Redhill hired Marta Bigio from Unilever to front its own new sustainability offering.
